Unrivaled completed its 36-player roster with the wildcard addition of New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu on Monday. Founded by Liberty forward Breanna Stewart and Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier, Unrivaled's talented rosters feature an All-WNBA selection in forward Alyssa Thomas and plenty of All-Star power.
Six teams will compete from January to March and will feature some of the premier faces in the WNBA. The Sky will have one active player, All-Star forward Angel Reese, represent them in Unrivaled. She will suit up for the Rose Basketball Club. The Los Angeles Sparks will have five players across four rosters. Forward Cameron Brink, who is still recovering from a torn ACL, signed a multi-year contract with Unrivaled last week.
Rose Basketball Club vs. Vinyl Basketball Club, Jan. 17
Sky fans will see the reunion of Reese and former Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon in Rose Basketball Club's first game of the year.
Rose Basketball Club, who will feature three players from Sky's past and present, will face off against Vinyl Basketball Club in its first matchup of the season. Rose BC's Reese will team up with guard Kahleah Copper and forward Azura Stevens, who played instrumental roles in one of the most successful periods in the Sky's nearly-20-year history. Vinyl will be headlined by a four-time All-Star in guard Arike Ogunbowale and a midwestern rival in All-Star forward Aliyah Boston. The club will be coached by Weatherspoon, who spent one season in Chicago before being let go in September. Watching Sky talent face off in one of Unrivaled's first-ever games will hopefully be a classic for the ages in the newly-founded league.
The game will tip off at 8:15 p.m. EST. It will be broadcast on TNT.
Laces Basketball Club vs. Mist Basketball Club, Jan. 20
One step closer to getting the band back together.
Two more Sky champions in guard Courtney Vandersloot and center Stefanie Dolson will face off shortly after the league tips off for the first time. Both will be surrounded by star talent, including Sloot's All-Star teammate on the Mist and the Liberty in Stewart. Two first-round rookies in forwards Rickea Jackson and Aaliyah Edwards will play for the Mist. They were selected close to Chicago's budding big duo in Reese and center Kamilla Cardoso in the 2024 WNBA Draft, with Edwards being taken by the Washington Mystics one pick before Reese.
The game will tip off at 9:15 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on TNT.
Rose Basketball Club vs. Phantom Basketball Club, Jan. 31
Rose Basketball Club will end the month of January with a game against two former Sky players in guard Marina Mabrey and forward Katie Lou Samuelson on the Phantom Basketball Club. Both had short stints in Chicago before being dealt away in respective trades. The team will be headlined by a nine-time All-Star in center Brittney Griner, who hit a career-high 57.9% of her shots from the floor in 2024. She will be joined by Dallas forward Satou Sabally, who won the league's Most Improved Player award in 2023 on her way to an elevated role on offense with the Wings.
The game will tip off at 8:15 p.m. EST. It will be broadcast on TNT.
