The Chicago Sky were ecstatic to see Angel Reese fall to them at seventh overall. The 6’3 forward helped LSU win an NCAA championship in 2023 and was a three-time All-American. Reese was a dominant rebounder and winner in college, but few expected her to be elite in the WNBA so quickly.

The 22-year-old is leading the league in rebounds and is on pace to break the single-season record in her first season. She is a dominant offensive rebounder and already holds a WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles.

It has been an incredible start for the Bayou Barbie, and she is just getting started. Reese is already an All-Star and quickly becoming one of the league’s best. Teams are likely regretting letting her falling to seventh in the draft, but none more than this organization.

Washington Mystics desperately need a rebounder

It has been a rough season for the Mystics. After two straight playoff appearances, they are 6-18 and 11th in the standings as the Olympic break approaches. Losing Elena Della Donne and Natasha Cloud certainly hurt. Injuries to Brittney Sykes and Shakira Austin have not helped. They have played just nine total games this season for the Mystics.

Washington is currently the worst rebounding team in the league grabbing just 31.8 per game. They are tied for 11th in offensive rebounding, and playing sixth overall pick in the 2024 draft Aaliyah Edwards 22.8 minutes per game.

Edwards and Reese are both 22-year-old 6’3 forwards. The Mystics rookie has the edge in rim protection, but Reese is the superior rebounder and scorer. If Washington had selected the Bayou Barbie, they may be back in the playoff mix. Adding Reese puts them in the middle of the pack in rebounding and solves their biggest problem.

The Mystics are just 3.5 games behind the Chicago Sky for the eighth and final playoff spot. If they had taken Angel Reese, their positions in the standings might be reversed. The 6’3 forward certainly would have had a shot to shine after all the Mystics' troubles staying healthy this season.

Angel Reese is happy with the Chicago Sky and will continue to make franchises regret passing on her. The 22-year-old is just getting started. She is already a dominant rebounder and All-Star with massive goals, including being on Team USA for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The Mystics won’t be the only team who regrets passing on her.

Next. 1st post. Angel Reese is going to Olympics (but it is not why you thinK). dark
