The Chicago Sky may have the best rookie in the WNBA. That is a bold statement given the greatness of this class and the hype surrounding it, but Angel Reese is quickly becoming the favorite to win Rookie of the Year. She has already taken a record from a WNBA legend and is far from done.

Reese made the All-Star team and is gearing up to team with Caitlin Clark for the first time in her career. It is the WNBA All-Stars versus Team USA in the All-Star Game on July 20. Reese and Clark hope to join the Olympic team in 2028 and will get another shot to prove themselves during the All-Star festivities.

Chicago has two more games before the break, but the regular season is over halfway completed. The Sky have played 22 of their 40 games, and Reese is on pace to break a pair of impressive records.

Angel Reese is on pace to set 2 new rebounding marks

The 22-year-old rookie has grabbed 260 rebounds in 22 games, including 104 offensive boards. Hall of Famer Yolanda Griffith holds the record for most offensive rebounds in a season with 162 in 2001. Reese is on pace to shatter that mark with 189 offensive boards if she appears in all 40 games and keeps up her current pace. She would also break Sylvia Fowles rebounding record of 404.

Reese has emphasized rebounding amid her historic double-double streak, and she said this after breaking Candace Parker’s record.

"I just go out there and do my job. My job is to rebound, so I'm going to go out there and do my job and rebound. I know that's what my teammates need me to do, and I've committed to that."

The 6’3 forward is fierce on the glass and has pulled down at least ten rebounds in every game since May 30. Reese has already proven to be an elite rebounder, and she is still years away from her peak.

Angel Reese could re-write the record books if she keeps playing like this. The Sky are fighting for a playoff berth and need her doing the dirty work on the glass to get victories. If Reese stays healthy, she will likely break three WNBA records in her first season.

The Chicago Sky face two difficult tests before the All-Star and Olympic break against the Liberty and Aces. If they are going to pull the upset, Angel Reese must play a crucial role. Fans won’t want to miss a second of the action to see if she can keep up her historic rebounding pace.
