Every WNBA Player Who just Became an All-Star for the First Time

The WNBA All-Star Game take place on July 20 and will feature a unique format. The league pauses for the Olympics, and Team USA’s first exhibition tune-up will be against the best of the WNBA. This is just the second time for this showcase with the WNBA All-Stars winning in 2021 before the Tokyo Olympics.
The Chicago Sky have a first-time All-Star in Angel Reese. She is taking the league by storm and in the lead for Rookie of the Year honors. Reese is excited for All-Star weekend and to team with Caitlin Clark for the first time during the game. There will certainly be fireworks.
Who joins the Sky’s star as a first-time All-Star? In 2024, it is a small, but historic group of first-time All-Stars.
Angel Reese is a first-time WNBA All-Star
The 6’3 forward was more than deserving of the honor. She leads the league in rebounds and is on pace to break the single-season record as a rookie. Reese is elite on the glass with a special knack for grabbing offensive boards.
The 22-year-old is just getting started. She plans on being a multiple-time All-Star and being part of Team USA for the next Olympics. The Bayou Barbie is one of two rookies changing the WNBA too.
Caitlin Clark becomes an All-Star as a rookie
Reese is joined by a fellow rookie on the WNBA All-Star squad. Clark is lifting the league to new heights in terms of popularity, and her rivalry with Reese plays a crucial part. The 6’0 guard is an elite playmaker and on pace to break a record of her own as a rookie.
Clark and Reese are the only first-time All-Stars in the 2024 contest. It may not be a long list, but it is a historic one.
WNBA is not used to having 2 rookie All-Stars
This is the first time since 2014 that two rookies will appear in the WNBA All-Star Game. That year it was Shoni Schimmel and Chiney Ogwumike, but things will be a bit different this time.
The 2024 WNBA All-Star Game is sold out
The Footprint Center in Phoenix is already sold out with 17,035 people expected to be in attendance. Caitlin Clark’s All-Star jersey sold out in minutes. There is a ton of excitement about this event, and it could certainly help lift the WNBA to new heights.
The game is on ABC and ESPN at 7:30 p.m. CT on July 20, and fans cannot miss it. Expect Angel Reese to put on a show and show Team USA she belongs on the squad in 2028 ahead of the Los Angeles Olympics.
