The 22-year-old wanted to be on the USA Olympic team in 2024 but was not selected. It has not stopped her from heading to Europe to support the squad and make her intentions clear. Expect Reese to play a key role in 2028 as she enters her prime.
The 6’3 forward will be taking on a new challenge in January 2025 after she joined a startup league. Find out where fans can watch her and what makes her latest endeavor special.
Angel Reese joins Unrivaled Basketball for the inaugural season
Reese becomes the tenth player to join the new women’s basketball league. Breanna Stewart, Napheesa Collier, Chelsea Gray, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Rhyne Howard, Kahleah Copper, and Jackie Young are in the 3-on-3 league. Stewart and Collier co-founded Unrivaled Basektball, which is expected to start in January 2025.
There will be 30 players and the league separates itself by paying more and playing on a smaller court. The games will be shorter and should bring plenty of excitement.
Unrivaled plans to have eight weeks in its opening season. There will be six teams with a round-robin schedule. That will be followed by the top four squads making the playoffs.
Angel Reese figures to bring even more eyeballs to the league. They plan on having plenty of star power in their opening season and fans will certainly be interested in seeing their favorite talents in the 3-on-3 format. Reese may be even more dominant on the smaller court.
The Bayou Barbie shared her excitement on social media after the announcement.
The WNBA season is on pause until mid-August for the Olympics. Angel Reese will come back better than ever when play resumes. The 22-year-old is already an All-Star and breaking records, but the best is yet to come. Reese is not stopping anytime soon and will be significantly improved by the time Unrivaled begins in January.
Can she lift the Chicago Sky to the playoffs as a rookie? It won’t be easy, but fans will be fascinating to watch. Angel is all about winning, so doubt her at your own risk.
