The Chicago Sky are entering into a fascinating period of rebuilding and, crucially, execution.
The team's decision to trade Dana Evans in exchange for 2 second-round draft picks this year indicates they're prioritizing bringing in guards (which the Sky desperately needs) — but the Sky also needs a solid wing and dependable bench players if they want to make a true playoff run this season. The Sky also declined to resign Chennedy Carter during free agency, which means the team will also want to focus on shooters who can consistently hit a basket.
Luckily, the team has two first-round picks in this year's WNBA draft, and there are two players who they should definitely be considering.
Georgia Amoore as the No. 3 selection
As much as it would be incredible to see Olivia Miles in Chicago this season, it feels unlikely she will fall below the No. 2 overall pick (and she could even end up going first). If Miles goes first, Paige Bueckers will end up in Seattle and vice-versa, which leaves the Sky with a few interesting choices for No. 3
Kentucky's Georgia Amoore has so far had an incredible season and would be a powerful addition to the team. After Miles and Bueckers, it's not really clear who the third selection should be — and Amoore has the chops to hold her own in the Windy City. She's an excellent two-way player and has demonstrated the ability to adjust rapidly to change (this year she's playing for a new team in a new conference after following Coach Kenny Brooks to the school). She's also a pick-and-roll connoisseur and a quick student — she would make an excellent apprentice under Courtney Vandersloot.
Amoore also possess a strong ability to shoot off the dribble and from the outside — she's truly an excellent pick for the team, even if others are predicted to be drafted before her.
Shyanne Sellers as the No. 10 selection
Drafting Sellers would reconnect her with her former Maryland teammate Angel Reese and would give the Sky a player who will respond from coaching and development positively. Sellers has more than proven she's capable of improving her game in a short period of time.
Sellers would also pair well with Amoore in the team's back court, the area they need to focus on the most. As they get stronger, the duo could end up feeding Reese and Cardoso plenty of opportunities for scoring in the post, and the Sky overall will be plenty of fun to watch. Sellers isn't known for taking shots constantly, but when she does shoot, she's solid.
