The Chicago Sky are finalizing a trade that would send guard Dana Evans to the Las Vegas Aces for two 2nd-round picks, according to Chicago Sun-Times Sky reporter Annie Costabile. Las Vegas will send Chicago the No. 16 and No. 22 picks in this year's draft, ESPN women's basketball reporter Alexa Philippou wrote in a Friday tweet.

Evans spent four seasons with the Sky after being traded from the Dallas Wings in 2021. The former Sixth Player of the Year candidate won a ring with Chicago that year. She averaged 7.2 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game during 12 starts and 39 games played last season. The 5-foot-6 guard played in four games against the Aces last season, including in a late-September matchup that saw her drop 13 points in an Aces home win.

The move leaves the Sky with nine players under contract, including a few new additions in guards Rebecca Allen and Kia Nurse. Should Chicago bring aboard both of its first-round selections in the 2025 WNBA Draft, that would leave them with one open roster spot before the start of their 2025 campaign. Aside from their star-studded sophomore duo of Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, The Sky's roster is highlighted by the return of Evan's former teammate in guard Courtney Vandersloot. The 12-year Chicago veteran and guard Moriah Jefferson will, for now, likely make up the two-deep for the Sky at the point guard spot.

Evans will play alongside guard Chelsea Gray, who has teamed up with Reese on Unrivaled's Rose Basketball Club. The 6-time All-Star has won two championships with the Aces and one alongside former Sky forward Candace Parker with the Los Angeles Sparks. Evans will add some depth to an Aces bench that has seen a few of its veterans set their sights on other teams, including guards Sydney Colson and Tiffany Hayes. The Aces added All-Star guard Jewell Loyd via a blockbuster trade last month, which will only add to the firepower of a squad that led the league in points per game with 86.4.

The Sky have been stockpiling draft picks between these next two WNBA Drafts over the last year. Aside from their two new second-round selections, Chicago gained the rights to swap 2026 first-rounders with the Connecticut Sun in a July trade. The Sky will have plenty of opportunities to add their stars of the future from the point guard to the small forward spots with a newly-opened roster spot.
