Chicago Sky guard Kia Nurse and her newly-assembled Athletes Unlimited Pro Basketball squad will face off against Team Siegrist on Wednesday.
Nurse, who shined in her first week with Athletes Unlimited, was named a team captain for the league's second week. She joined Dallas Wings forward Maddy Siegrist, her Wings teammate in guard Tyasha Harris and former Los Angeles Sparks guard Crystal Bradford. Nurse is in third place in the AU standings after three successful scoring nights with Team Westbrook, where she averaged 18 points per game and led her team to a 2-1 record.
Now, with a squad of her own, Nurse will look to continue to push her way up the AU leaderboard and set the tone for the rest of the 1-month season.
Nurse's new team, which was drafted yesterday at noon EST, includes a 2024 1st-round selection in forward Alissa Pili and her Week 1 captain in guard Evina Westbrook. Team Nurse will feature three Week 1 captains in Westbrook, guard Kierstan Bell and guard Sydney Colson. Westbrook is 12th in the AU standings and three spots ahead of forward Isabelle Harrsion, who will suit up for Team Siegrist after being a team captain last week. Center Angel Jackson, a 3rd-round pick for the Las Vegas Aces in last year's draft, will provide plenty of size at the center spot at 6-foot-6.
Siegrist and Harrison highlight a roster that features Sparks guard Odyssey Sims and Atlanta Dream guard Maya Caldwell. Sims, an 11-year WNBA veteran with five different squads, is in eighth place in the league's standings and two spots behind Sky center Elizabeth Williams. Harrison, an AU veteran who played in 36 games for Chicago last season, is comfortably in 15th place following solid scoring performances against Team Colson and Team Bell.
Team Nurse will tip off against Team Siegrist at 11:30 a.m. EST on Wednesday. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
