The Chicago Sky will have plenty of training camp battles to look out for before the start of the 2025 season. Two second-rounders in Maddy Westbeld and Aicha Coulibaly must prove themselves against a slew of additions as they compete for backup roles. A handful of players could start at small forward to pair with Chicago's big duo and two new near-locks for the starting guard spots, including two sizable guards in Kia Nurse and Rebecca Allen.
The Sky are continuing to fill out their training camp roster with a number of new signees, including their latest addition in center Jessika Carter. A few former Sky camp signees have found their way onto other rosters, including guard Rebekah Gardner, who earned her first shot in the WNBA with Chicago. Will the Sky continue to hit home runs with their training camp signees as they have in the past? Who are some players to look out for before they officially begin training camp?
Morgan Bertsch
Bertsch played in 28 games and started in five for the Sky in 2023. The 6-foot-4 forward was a consistent shooter in her limited time on the floor. She hit just over 44% of her tries from beyond the arc, including a lights-out night that saw her hit four of her five shots against the Washington Mystics.
Bertsch could be a useful stretch big behind Reese should she make the opening day roster. Her solid arsenal made her a decent threat from the midrange and finisher at the rim. Chicago may still need to rely on center Elizabeth Williams to take on plenty of minutes as a big, but Bertsch's shooting can make her a decent fit alongside the Sky's two reliable centers.
Alex Wilson
Wilson has yet to suit up for a WNBA squad, but has made a name for herself in the Australian WNBL and NBL1. She has spent time with a number of Australian squads and has over 15 years of professional experience. The 31-year-old guard earned a spot on the All-WNBL First Team alongside a few current and former WNBA players, including Naz Hillmon of the Atlanta Dream.
Chicago has already added to its scoring potential with Nurse and guard Ariel Atkins, who led the Mystics in scoring with the absence of former Sky forward Elena Delle Donne. Wilson can still provide a solid scoring punch for the Sky after leading the WNBL's Perth Lynx in points per game last season.
