Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese will take the court for Unrivaled's Rose Basketball Club for the first time on Jan. 17. Reese will team up with some of the more recognizable names in the WNBA, including a 3-time champion in guard Chelsea Gray. Two of her teammates, guard Kahleah Copper and forward Azura Stevens, helped guide Chicago to its first-ever championship in 2021.
The Rose Basketball Club will tip off its inaugural season later this month against a few familiar faces on Vinyl BC. Rose BC will play five times between its tip-off date and the end of January. Vinyl BC, a team led by former Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, will play in four games this month. The league's matchups will be broadcast on TNT or truTV. All of its games can be streamed on Max.
Angel Reese will be one of Rose BC's top scorers
Reese will be paired with Copper, who broke out into one of the league's top scorers with the Phoenix Mercury last season. She scored 30 points or more on nine occasions last year, including a season-high 38 in a close win over the Atlanta Dream. Copper showcased her scoring skills when she first returned to Wintrust Arena in August. She dropped 29 points on her former squad in 35 minutes of play.
Reese ended last season with an average of 13.6 points per game. Though she shot inefficiently from the floor, she still ended the season as one of Chicago's top scorers. Reese will face off against some of the WNBA's top bigs, including a nine-time WNBA All-Star in Phantom Basketball Club's Brittney Griner on Jan. 31. Still, if she can prove to be a reliable outlet in the paint with Rose's talented guards, she may have the potential to be one of the top scorer's on the club's roster.
Angel Reese will be one of Unrivaled's top rebounders
Reese will face some of the WNBA's better rebounding talents as Rose BC works through its inaugural schedule. She will take on Lunar Owls forward Napheesa Collier, who took third place in the WNBA in rebounds per game last season, on Jan. 18. Vinyl Basketball Club will feature two of the WNBA's top rebounders in forward Dearica Hamby
and center Aliyah Boston.
Reese ended last season with a WNBA-leading 13.1 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-3 forward and Sky center Kamilla Cardoso took the first and second-place spots in the league in offensive rebounds per game, respectively. Reese was recognized as a WNBA peak performer in rebounds by season's end. If Reese passes the rebounding test brought about by Vinyl Basketball Club in her first game of the season, she could prove she can carry her rebounding prowess into the highly-anticipated off-season league and separate herself as one of its top rebounding talents.
