The WNBA and Reebok announced a multi-year deal that would make the apparel company an "authorized footwear supplier" for the WNBA, the league announced in a Thursday release.
“Reebok has been such an amazing partner and advocate for women in sport,” Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese said in Thursday's release. “As strong female athletes, we can use our platform to set an example for young players coming up in the sport.
"I'm happy to see the WNBA and Reebok supporting one another because I know that together we’re so much stronger and our reach is so much further.”
Reese, who earned an All-Star selection in her star-studded rookie season, first signed with the sporting goods giant in 2023. Former Sky guard Lexie Brown, who won a championship with Chicago before signing with the Los Angeles Sparks, is also signed with Reebok. The two debuted custom Reebok Solution shoes in May. Reese debuted the Reebok Engine A sneakers in an August matchup with the Indiana Fever, which saw her log 10 points and 11 rebounds in the Fever win at Wintrust Arena.
Reese starred in Reebok's "Sport Is Everything" campaign last month, which focused on showing the many ways that sports can move beyond traditional labels. She joined former Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, among a variety of athletes across a multitude of sports, in a 60-second commercial. The All-Rookie selection signed an extension with Reebok in October, which included a signature shoe release in 2026. Reese and Reebok launched the "Reebok by Angel" collection, which featured a variety of sneakers and apparel products, in August.
Former LSU and Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal issued a statement on Thursday's deal. O'Neal joined Hall-of-Fame guard Allen Iverson as the President and Vice President of Reebok Basketball, respectively, in 2023.
“It’s an exciting time for Reebok, the WNBA, and the game of basketball overall,” O’Neal said in Thursday's release. “Reebok has always been committed to supporting the growth of the sport, and now with a strong plan, the right resources, and the welcoming arms of the WNBA, we’re ready to dive in headfirst with everything from product to players and more.”
The partnership comes off the heels of a few landmark extensions and deals for the WNBA and its players.
Las Vegas Aces star forward A'ja Wilson earned one of the richest shoe deals in women's basketball when she signed a six-year extension with Nike on Tuesday. The deal would include a signature shoe. The WNBA agreed to an 11-year media rights deal with a handful of major networks and streaming services in July, netting the league about $200 million per year from the 2026-36 seasons. The WNBA had reached historic viewership highs after seeing a steady increase over the past few seasons. Last season was the most-viewed WNBA regular season in 24 years, with 22 regular season games reaching 1 million viewers or more, according to a September release.
Reese would average a double-double and put on a multitude of highlight performances in what would ultimately be a historic season for the 28-year-old league. She would break the WNBA's single-season rebounding record in a September loss to the Minnesota Lynx, adding to the handful of double-double records she had broken earlier this year.
