Kentucky guard Georgia Amoore's stellar college career came to an end with a 1-point loss to the Kansas State Wildcats on Sunday. The two-time All-ACC selection proved her excellence at the collegiate level during her four seasons with Virginia Tech and one with Kentucky. She holds Virginia Tech's all-time record in assists with just over 655 and is second in assists per game with 5.2. The 5-foot-6 guard has been to the NCAA tournament alongside head coach Kenny Brooks in all five years of her collegiate career.

Amoore will join a 2025 WNBA Draft class that features a number of talented guards who could be selected in the first round. UConn's Paige Bueckers could highlight the class and be chosen with the No. 1 pick should she declare and forego her final year of eligibility. Her teammate, Azzi Fudd, chose to return to UConn for her fifth and final season on Tuesday. The Notre Dame duo of Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron, along with a few other Power 4 stars, could be available for squads like the Washington Mystics to pick up in an effort to strengthen their foundations for the future.

The Sky should select Georgia Amoore in this year's draft

Can Amoore be the passing engine the Sky need for the future?

Chicago could use a player who has an eye for finding her teammates and who can put them in positions to succeed with crafty passes on the move. Amoore's vision and basketball smarts were highlighted by her near-seven assists per game in her last two collegiate seasons, which include 11 games with 10 assists or more. The Sky lacked a lead passing guard since the departure of Courtney Williams, who logged her first career triple-doubles with Chicago after switching to the point guard spot in 2023.

Amoore has worked alongside a few notable bigs in Liz Kitley and Clara Strack with the Hokies and the Wildcats. She can be a solid pairing with Sky center Kamilla Cardoso, who became one of Chicago's biggest winners of the offseason with the addition of a natural passer in guard Courtney Vandersloot. If she can build a connection with both Cardoso and forward Angel Reese as she has with her star bigs in the past, Amoore can be a steal and a fantastic fit for the Sky should she fall to them in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Draft.
