The Chicago Sky released their local broadcast schedule one week after revealing their national lineup. The Sky will five locally broadcasted matchups to start the 2025 season in May, including two against the Dallas Wings. August will feature the most local broadcasts with 10, including six home games and two against the Phoenix Mercury and Connecticut Sun.
The Sky invested in a win-now roster that features a veteran core around Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. The addition of guard Ariel Atkins can raise the ceiling of Chicago's long-range scoring attack and defensive potential. The Sky will have a few questions to answer before making their push for the postseason, all of which can be determined by a few in-season tests against squads who also threw plenty of resources at building competitive rosters of their own.
Chicago Sky @ Phoenix Mercury, May 27
Chicago will face off against a familiar face in guard Kahleah Copper before starting a two-game series against the Wings. Even with the retirement of legendary guard Diana Taurasi, the Mercury will still have three key additions in Alyssa Thomas, Kalani Brown and Satou Sabally at their disposal. Thomas, a five-time All-Star for the Connecticut Sun, showed off her all-around game as she took fifth place in the WNBA's MVP voting last season.
The veteran-filled roster can prove to be a major test for Reese and Cardoso, who will look to build upon successful rookie seasons and set the tone for Chicago early in the season.
Chicago Sky @ Los Angeles Sparks, June 29
The Sky will face off against LA as they take part in Candace Parker's jersey retirement with the Sparks. Chicago will need to prove they can overcome a Sparks roster that features the same blend of up-and-coming sophomores and incoming veteran stars if they are to make their case for the playoffs.
Three-time All-Star guard Kelsey Plum will join a roster featuring two top-level selections from last year's draft. She can prove to be a challenging matchup for Atkins, who will look to be a key defender on a new-look Sky squad.
Chicago Sky v. Indiana Fever, July 27
The Fever upgraded their roster with the additions of DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard. The two veteran forwards could be the perfect players to pair alongside the youthful duo of Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, who played in the Fever's first postseason appearance since 2016. Former Sky forward Brianna Turner signed with Indiana last month, which only added to their big depth before what could be a crucial season for the rising roster.
The Sky's third matchup with the Fever will come close to capping off a July schedule that will see Chicago face another midwestern rival in the Minnesota Lynx four times. Should they prevail against a handful of tough, playoff-caliber squads, it could be the final sign the Sky need that they are ready to end their short break from the playoffs.
