Notre Dame guard Sonia Citron seemed to further showcase her shooting potential in a Sunday win over Virginia.
The senior guard scored 25 points and made five of her nine 3-point attempts on Notre Dame's home court. She added 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks. Her high-volume 3-point shooting highlighted a streak of hitting at 50% or more from the perimeter over the last four games. Citron knocked down four of her six tries from long range in a win over Syracuse earlier this month, where she nearly logged the same stat line as Notre Dame continued to add to its perfect road record.
Citron scored from the mid-range and off catch-and-shoot attempts on the corners and wings in her stellar shooting night. She looked her strongest when finding open shots off the ball and knocking down shots off passes from Notre Dame teammate Olivia Miles, who logged a triple-double in the Fighting Irish win. Citron's skill in assisted shots from long range could make her a strong fit for the Sky if they can pair her with a proficient passing guard.
The Sky will have two first-rounders in this year's WNBA Draft. Citron could be a solid option to look out for should the Los Angeles Sparks select Miles at No. 2. Her shooting and defense can make her a needed pick for a Sky squad looking to lift its 3-point attack back to its 2023 standard.
Chicago tied with the Las Vegas Aces for the second-highest 3-point percentage in the WNBA in 2023. They hadn't logged a team 3-point percentage higher than 36% since 2018 before their short shooting turnaround. The Sky dipped back down to about 32% from the arc as a few of their more reliable shooters were shipped off to different squads, leaving them at the bottom of the league in 3-point makes and attempts per game.
