The Chicago Sky walked away from the 2024 WNBA Draft with two home run selections in Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese. The duo became the first Sky 1st-round selections to make the All-Rookie team since Diamond DeShields in 2018. Reese, a league-leading rebounder and first-year standout for the Sky, became Chicago's first rookie All-Star since Elena Delle Donne in 2013.

While it will be tough to replicate the production of the star-studded duo's first seasons, the Sky can still invest in a few noteworthy options as they try to climb out of a short-term rebuilding period.

The Sky will have a late first-rounder in this year's draft after trading the No. 3 pick, along with two other selections, for Ariel Atkins. They must select a guard who can pair with their two stars of the future and a potential lottery selection in 2026. The Sky can opt for size at the guard spots should Maryland's Shyanne Sellers or NC State's Saniya Rivers be available for them at No. 10. They can also look for a collegiate stars like Kentucky's Georgia Amoore, who ended her notable 5-year career with a spot on the All-SEC First Team.

Chicago may need to look out for Hailey Van Lith in the 2025 WNBA Draft

Hailey Van Lith, a Big 12 Player of the Year and All-Big 12 selection this year, could be a guard to look out for in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

The 5-foot-9 guard underwent a resurgent season with TCU after playing alongside Reese at LSU for one season. She nearly replicated the production she saw at Louisville as she averaged 17.9 points, 5.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Her larger role with the Horned Frogs helped guide them to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2010. TCU rolled past FDU and her former team in the Cardinals and earned a shocking victory over a powerhouse Notre Dame squad before falling to Texas in the Elite Eight.

Van Lith's leadership and competitiveness, as described by TCU guard Ella Hamlin in a Wednesday article from Yahoo! Sports, can make her a fantastic fit on a Sky squad on the rise with a few new proven veterans to work with. Chicago added Atkins and Courtney Vandersloot, two guards who have proven their worth with their respective squads and can be reliable players to learn from next season. The addition of Van Lith can also free up the ability to go after extra depth at both forward spots while putting the Sky in the right direction to select a high-level two-guard in 2026.
