Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso scored 37 points in her latest dominant performance in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association, according to a Saturday tweet from Chinese Women's Hoop Show.
Cardoso rounded out her incredible night with 15 rebounds, eight assists and two steals. She hit 15 of her 18 shots from the floor. Her Shanghai Swordfish defeated Hebei in a 94-80 victory. It would be Shanghai's third win over Hebei of the 2024-25 WCBA season.
Cardoso's recent performance highlights her importance to one of the top teams in the league's Group A2 standings. The Sky sophomore is averaging a team-leading 19.8 points per game on an efficient 61.8% from the field. She broke out as a leader for Shanghai since her first matchup against Shanxi, where she earned 25 points and 13 rebounds in a close loss. She scored 32 in a December win over Jiangsu, which saw the Swordfish limit the Group A1 squad to just under 23% from the 3-point line.
Cardoso ended the 2024 WNBA season with averages of 9.8 points and 7.9 points per game. She earned a season-high 22 points in a close loss to the Minnesota Lynx. Cardoso logged seven double-doubles during her rookie season. She led all rookies in field goal percentage with 52.1%.
Cardoso wasn't the only one who represented the Sky well on the international stage this week.
Sky forward Brianna Turner earned 12 points and 19 rebounds for the Adelaide Lightning of the Women's National Basketball League in Australia on Friday. While her Lightning would fall to the UC Capitals, Turner would counter 16 rebounds brought down by forward Charli Collier. Collier, a former star for the Texas Longhorns and a first-overall draft pick by the Dallas Wings, was one of three Captains players to score 20 points or more in Friday's matchup. Turner leads the league in rebounds, steals and blocks per game.
