UConn guard Azzi Fudd led the Huskies in scoring in an 81-27 win over the Xavier Musketeers on Wednesday.

The senior guard scored 23 points in the dominant win over Xavier. She hit nine of her 14 shots from the floor and three of her five 3-pointers. Fudd rounded out the night with two rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block. UConn freshman phenom forward Sarah Strong picked off five passes to pair with her 15 points and seven rebounds. Fudd scored 18 of her 23 points in the first half, according to the Associated Press. She started to gain her scoring strength after knocking down a quick 3-pointer later in the first quarter.

Fudd has played in 10 games and started in six for the Huskies since she returned from an ACL tear in November. She had a pair of solid scoring performances against two ranked squads in Louisville and Ole Miss, where she logged 18 points on efficient shooting in two home wins for the Huskies. Though she hasn't hit her career high from her freshman season, Fudd is hitting about 35% of her 3-pointers in her fourth season with UConn.

The Sky will need to add plenty of firepower on offense in the next few drafts after finishing last season near the bottom of the league in points per game and field goal percentage. It would be a far cry from the high-powered offenses of years past, including a 2022 squad that took second place in the WNBA in points per contest.

Guard Chennedy Carter, the leading scorer for the Sky last season, is listed as a restricted free agent for Chicago. The Sky can extend a qualifying offer starting Saturday. They lost two of their top scoring guards in Kahleah Copper and Marina Mabrey via trade before and during the 2024 season. If Fudd can be paired with a guard who can unlock her skill on and off the ball on offense, she can be an intriguing option to look out for if she falls to the Sky later in the first round.
