The Chicago Sky announcedthey will be facing the Brazilian National Team in a preseason bout at LSU's Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Friday. The game will tip off on May 2 at 7 p.m. CST. Tickets for the preseason matchup will go on sale on Feb. 17.
"I'm very excited the Sky will play a preseason game at LSU," Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese said in a Friday release. "It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me.
"LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA and I can't wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans."
Reese will return to her alma mater's stadium after she spent two seasons with the Tigers. The 2nd-year forward averaged 20.9 points and 14.4 rebounds per game in her time with LSU, which saw her earn two All-SEC and conference All-Defense selections. The former SEC Player of the Year played her final game at the PMAC in an NCAA tournament win over Middle Tennessee. She would end the game with 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Tigers moved on to face a 2024 WNBA Draft selection in Charisma Osborne and the UCLA Bruins.
It will be the first time Sky center Kamilla Cardoso will face the Brazilian National Team, the release read. Cardoso, a WNBA All-Rookie selection and a standout center in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association, has medaled with Brazil in two FIBA AmeriCups and one FIBA South American Women's Basketball Championship. Cardoso and Brazil won a gold medal in the 2023 FIBA AmeriCup with a win over a Team USA squad that featured Reese and Osborne.
The Indiana Fever announced a preseason matchup of their own against the Brazilian National Team on Thursday. The Fever will face the squad at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, the former home of All-WNBA guard Caitlin Clark, on May 4. Chicago will officially start its 2025 regular-season campaign with a game against the Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 17.
