Even though the Chicago Sky did not make the playoffs in the 2024 season, Angel Reese had a successful rookie year. She already secured her first All-Star selection and was the only player able to give Caitlin Clark some trouble in the Rookie of the Year race.

Reese quickly established herself as the face of the Chicago Sky and one of the young stars ready to take over the league eventually. There is so much more to come, though. 2024 was only Reese’s first season in the WNBA. The more experience she has playing at the professional level, the better she will get.

So, with her rookie year behind her, it is fair to expect Reese to be even better in her second season. She may do some great things.

3. Angel Reese will lead the league in rebounds per game again

Angel Reese quickly established herself as one of the best rebounders in the league, averaging 13.1 rebounds per game. That was the best average in the league, ahead of A’ja Wilson and Napheesa Collier—the top two candidates for the MVP award in 2024.

In total rebounds, Wilson had a slight edge over Reese, finishing the season with five more rebounds. However, Reese also played fewer games, and leading the league in rebounds per game as a rookie was quite an accomplishment for her. It also set the tone for what kind of player Reese would be in the WNBA.

Rebounding is her specialty, and while WNBA fans should expect great seasons from Wilson and Collier, Reese has the talent to lead the league in rebounds per game for a second straight season.

2. Angel Reese will break the record for most consecutive double-doubles in a season

Due to her outstanding rebounding ability, Reese is a walking double-double, even at the WNBA level. Last season, she recorded 15 consecutive double-doubles, breaking Candace Parker’s impressive streak of twelve straight double-doubles.

Reese already holds the league record, and recording that many consecutive double-doubles is no easy feat. Still, if she stays healthy and plays an entire season, there is no reason to believe Reese cannot break her own record. Since the Sky did not re-sign Chennedy Carter, Reese should be the focal point of the team’s offense this season, and the addition of Courtney Vandersloot will put her in the best position to score easily.

If she does not get hurt in the 2025 season, she may even set a new record this year.

1. Angel Reese will improve her field goal percentage to over 40 percent

The main problem Angel Reese faced during her rookie season was her inefficiency, especially around the basket. Reese finished the season shooting only 39.1 percent from the field. She has been working on her shot all offseason long, even receiving some help from WNBA legend Lisa Leslie, and a bad field goal percentage will soon be a thing of the past for Reese. Simply having more experience and being more accustomed to the defense in the WNBA will help her be a more efficient scorer.

Reese is currently playing in Unrivaled and already showed flashes of improvement. Over eight games, she has shot at least 40 percent from the field six times.

If she can bring that improvement to the WNBA, it should be no problem for Reese to improve her field goal percentage to over 40 percent. Plus, the Sky signed Courtney Vandersloot this offseason. Having a veteran playmaker of her caliber will help Reese get easier shots and improve her field goal percentage.
